Ecohawks Recycling Challenge Ends with Great Success

Waterloo, ON - November 24, 2006 marked the end of the battle between twelve first year residence floors in a competition that consisted of collecting recycling for four consecutive days. The Ecohawks, who are a committee that works to raise awareness in the community regarding environmental issues, and encourages the development of environmentally friendly living habits of students, presented a competition among residences here at Laurier to raise an understanding about the importance of recycling.

The top three winning teams in the challenge were Waterloo College Hall 4East, Regina Residence and University Place 3. These winning teams were awarded with rock climbing at Laurier’s own Athletic Complex, as well as having use of the party room at Dooly’s and a pizza party. All twelve residences did a great job to collect recycling and a terrific effort was put forth by all. The other nine teams who participated in this event were Laurier Place Conestoga South, Laurier Place St. Jacobs, Little House A3 East, Conrad D3, Bricker 6, King Street 4North, Boukart 2, Waterloo College Hall 2West and Willison B2.

Sophia Thai, Ecohawks Executive, would like to thank the over three-hundred first year students and dons that participated in the challenge and to “Please continue your recycling routines to promote environmental friendliness”.
