[WATERLOO, ON] – On Saturday, November 4th, 2006 Laurier Students for Literacy will be hosting the 11th annual Walk for Literacy.  The Walk will begin in the Laurier Concourse at 11:30am and will weave its way throughout Waterloo in an effort to raise funds for LSFL sponsored programs as well as for Project Read, a literacy workshop in Kitchener for both parents and children.  The walk will conclude at 12:30pm with prizes and awards in the Concourse.

LSFL is an organization completely comprised of volunteers who are dedicated to promoting literacy and instilling a love of learning in local children aged 3-18.  Programs range from one-on-one tutoring to group craft sessions, and help build motivation and self-esteem in children.

This year LSFL hopes to beat the amount of $2,000 which was raised at last year’s walk.  "The walk has been LSFL’s major fundraising event for the past ten years, and is a great help in enabling us to fulfill our literacy mission!" stated LSFL Coordinator Carolyn Thompson.
