The Indy Show

Name: Jenna
Program: The Indy Show
Program: The Indy Show
Hosted By: Jenna

Brief Overview of Program:
Bringing originality to the air waves of Radio Laurier is my goal. This is the setting, which will be achieved by focusing solely on the music of independent artists. The musical genre I wish to portray will be the Indie/Rock/Garage Band scene. I am hoping to expose underground bands with my radio show, which differentiates my show from others. The central idea of the show is to get my listeners familiar and involved with independent music as well as expose new sounds onto the listeners. I want to find a balance between popular Indie music and underground bands.

Why Listen?: The benefits of listening to The Indie Show are that you will experience new sounds and perhaps find a few new bands to add to your collection of artists. I want more people to be open minded about all music and this show will help this goal. If you are a fan of the Indie sound then this show is for you. It will be easier to find these underground bands and the sound you like because I will be presenting them to you and they are all unique in their own way.

About The Host: This idea came to me because I have many friends who are in bands and want to be heard and I want to help them and others be heard. Also, the genre of Indie is new and the band Broken Social Scene was my first experience of Indie music. Of course they are big now, but at the time they weren’t and maybe I could help other amazing Indie bands become something big. Music is my life and it is what drives me. I just think it is amazing that the Indie and Canadian scene has exploded and there are so many new genres and bands getting recognition. Most of the bands I love are Indie and artistic and give me a lot of influence and motivation in so many aspects of my life. I want to share them with everyone who will listen and hope they get as much out of the music as I do!
