Human Resources Department

The Human Resources Department is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and appreciating the over 1000 volunteers and 300 part-time staff that dedicate their time to WLUSU every year.  The department also serves as a resource for other departments in the areas of hiring, health and safety, volunteer performance, and professional development.

Our businesses provide a wide range of part-time jobs, from bartending and serving to security, in retail and restaurant operations.  Some of our businesses, especially those in the Terrace, are looking to hire students throughout the year.  Other businesses will hire at the beginning or end of the school year. 

Many of the services and events that WLUSU provides would not be possible without the tremendous dedication of our volunteers.  The HR department is proud to help offer such incredible opportunities to a wide range of students and considers it a privilege to help in the professional development and appreciation efforts for the volunteers.

There are three main hiring seasons for volunteer opportunities:

• In September, many of the general positions are hired for the year.  This would include positions like a Foot Patrol Volunteer, a Fashion ’n’ Motion Performer, or a Graphic Designer. 
• In January, many committees will conduct additional hiring for the remainder of the school year.  Some committees will also look to hire for executive positions that may have an opening.
• In March, the majority of the hiring for the following year occurs.  This includes Coordinator and executive positions, as well as a large portion of general positions.  O-Week Volunteers are also hired during this time.
