Charity Ball is a formal event, with dinner, dancing, and most of all...FUN!. It is an opportunity for friends to dress up and enjoy a relaxing evening while raising money for an important charity.

Our Charity this year is KidsAbility-Centre for Child Development. KidsAbility is a wonderful charity located in Waterloo that is dedicated to helping children with physical, developmental and communication disabilities. They provide services such as speech-language therapy, physiotherapy, early childhood education, therapeutic recreation, and much more for children up to 18 years of age.

October 20 - "Hair for Hope

Looking for a new look? Need a fresh new haircut or style? Don’t have the time to make a hair appointment or go to a salon only for a trim? Then this event is right up your alley! Professional hairstylists from salons in the Kitchener-Waterloo area will be coming to Laurier and for only $5, they will be giving you a haircut! Whether it’s just a trim, or if you want a dramatic, fresh new look, then this event is for you! Or if you’re just looking for some fun, then come check out the Laurier "celebs" who will be getting their heads shaved, or parts of their bodies waxed! Proceeds from this event and any other donations will be given to KidsAbility.

November 3-7- "Charity Awareness Campaign"

This is a great opportunity to find out more about KidsAbiliy. There will be a representative from KidsAbility who will be ready to answer your questions about the services they provide to the children. Come by the booth and check out our Teddy Bear sales, where you can purchase mini teddy bears in support of KidsAbility!

November 13-24 & 25- "Luminera Candle Sales & Luminera"

Join us for a stunning tradition of hundreds and hundreds of candles, which are all displayed in the Quad. From the 13th to the 24th, you will have the opportunity to purchase your candles and dedicate them to whomever you wish. Then join us on the night of the 25th for the beautiful display and try to find your candle! Bring your friends and enjoy the bake sale, hot chocolate and music as you walk among the candles.

Where: Candle sales will be taking place in the Concourse, Luminera will be in the Quad

Price: Candles will be $2 each or 3 for $5

January 21- "Ballroom Blitz"

Lean new dance moves that’ll impress all your friends the next time you’re at the Turret! Taught by a couple of trained Golden Hawks, and for only $5, Ballroom Blitz offers one hour dance lessons, where you can learn simple steps to dances such as the Waltz, the Polka, and Latin ballroom steps, that you can show off at the Charity Ball. Bring along a friend as your partner and have a ball!

February 9 - "Hair for Hope"

If you missed us the first time around, or if you just want another cut, then join us again in the Concourse for the same price and get an amazing deal on a haircut!

February 9-13, 23-27/ March 2-3 - "Charity Ball ticket sales"

The ball is almost here! It’s time to get your ticket for the ball and get your table organized for the big day! We will be selling in the Concourse, but look for us in the Science Building and the Peters Building as well! Make sure to buy your tickets early to avoid the increased prices after Reading Week!

Price: Regular Ticket - $45 before Reading Week, $50 after Reading Week

         Champagne Reception Ticket - $65 before RW, $70 after RW

February 10-13 - "Valentines’ Bear Sales in Support of KidsAbility"

Flower shop all sold out of the flowers you want to buy for someone? Then come by the Charity Ball booth and purchase your mini-teddy bear for your friend, partner or family! It’s the perfect gift that will last longer than any flower, and the money goes to KidsAbility!

Price: $2 for the Teddy Bear 

February 25 - "Ballroom Blitz"

Still want to improve those moves from the January lesson? Then come on back for lesson number 2 and brush up on the moves that you learned last month! Or if you missed the first event, the now’s your chance to learn some new moves before the big Ball! Same place and same price as the first Ballroom Blitz!

March 7 - "CHARITY BALL"

The big night is here! A fun-filled evening where students of all faculties and years have the opportunity to be in one room as you dine and dance the night away! It is an elegant, formal event with a sit-down dinner, followed by a dance. But don’t forget to browse through the amazing prizes displayed at the silent auction. Enjoy several different picture stations, where you and your friends can take memorable pictures with backgrounds and props that reflect the Charity Ball theme!
